10 Tips for Overcoming Speech Anxiety

1. Prepare your speech. The more you prepare, the less anxious you'll be.
2. Practice your speech alone and with a very small audience (even just one person).
3. Record yourself (video and/or audio). Get used to watching or listening to yourself speak.
4. Join a Toastmasters club for practice.
5. Don't overthink what might happen.
6. Don't overthink audience reaction. They want you to do well.
7. Take a moment to relax during your speech. Do this several times if you want. It actually makes you look better.
8. Channel your nervous energy into your speech. Use it to your advantage.
9. Take pride in yourself. You have been chosen to speak to your audience!
10. Take a deep breath and focus on the present.
